The Glory, Fri 18th Sept

We have an odd relationship with the phrase “NSFW” here at QX Magazine. It doesn’t really mean anything to us. EVERYTHING’S safe for work in our office *Miranda Priestley voice* EVERYBODY wants to be us. It’s mostly just known to us as a night at The Glory. Of course it couldn’t just be a normal night, that’d be far too simple. It’s an anarchic queer scratch performance spoken word night, featuring Trashbag Trish and Lisa Luxx. Don’t ask. Just go.

The Glory, 281 Kingsland Road, E2 8AS. Doors 7pm. £5 entry, £3 concessions.

Hippodrome, Sat 19th Sept

Have you ever wanted to slowly descend a wending flight of stairs, wearing a feather boa and holding a cigarette extender in one hand and a champagne flute in the other, preferable whilst drawling something in a smokey voice. Something like “Aah, Clarice…we meet at last.” WELL NOW’S YOUR CHANCE. Miss Polly Rae’s Soho Burlesque club is made for that sort of nonsense. She’ll be sailing around the stage with her band of miscreants, being sexy and stuff. It’s a heady ménage a trois of burlesque, comedy and dance. It makes us want to buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

Hippodrome Casino, Cranbourn St, Leicester Square, London WC2H 7JH. Show 11pm. Tickets from £15.

BJ’s White Swan, Sat 19th Sept

Sweet, full of cream and great to present to your friend’s dad…it’s Victoria Sponge! Yes, there is a drag queen called Victoria Sponge. This is the world we live in. And we LOVE it. She’ll be giving a generous sliver of salacious spite to the patrons of Limehouse’s White Swan on Saturday. DJ Little Rob will be there too, spinning tunes. He might play Overload by The Origibabes if you ask nicely. White Swan is THE place to be in Limehouse. We really like Limehouse. The White Swan’s there, it’s on the DLR which is always fun, like some sort of dystopic rollercoaster, and Mrs Bengali on Lowell Street does a mean saag paneer.

White Swan, 556 Commercial Road, E14 7JD. 8pm – 5am. Free entry before 10:30pm, £5 after.

West 5, Sat 19th Sept

C’mon sunflowers! C’mon other kind of flowers! C’mon Nina Flowers! It’s Nina Flowers at West London homosexual haunt of hedonism, West 5! Nina Flowers’ looks on Drag Race were great, remember? She was like some sort cybergoth alien princess. Amazing. She’ll be lending her multiple talents throughout the evening, DJing, hosting, lip syncing, all sorts.

West 5, Popes Lane, W5 4NB. 8pm – 3am. Tickets from £10.

Ku Bar, Sun 20th Sept

Model, fashion muse, DJ, singer, jagerbomb connoisseur, pop culture icon…these are just a few words that can be used to describe Lady Lloyd. She once fell into a piano on London Live’s Drag Queen’s of London. She’s had breakfast with Ke$ha. She was spotted at Boy George’s birthday party swigging vodka from the bottle. And now she’s DJing at Ku Bar every Sunday, spinning 80’s, 90’s and noughties hits, teasing you and pleasing you.

Ku Bar, 30 Lisle Street, WC2H 7BA. 8:30pm – midnight. Free entry.
