If the scene and all it’s vices are getting a bit much but you feel you can’t move on without the professional guidance, then it may be worth speaking to cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist, Richard Hughes.
“As a hypnotherapist I meet a lot of guys who want something more from life than just Grindr/clubbing/boozing/drugs and Sunday afternoon sex parties,” says Hughes. “Thing is, they’re not prepared to give up or moderate any of this. For many of them, it’s what makes life tolerable.
“Ultimately, you will have to face the anger, the stress, the loneliness, the anxiety and the social dysfunction by yourself. Even tougher, it might mean giving up old friends and acquaintances. If they are toxic, they will have to go. It’s not going to be easy and unfortunately there’s no magic wand. But the good news is that you will start to feel better, you will look better and eventually you will begin to wonder why you wasted so many years and so much money doing stuff that didn’t benefit you.”
