Not just the home of getting fisted in a sling, the self-proclaimed gay capital of Europe has much more to offer…
Berlin. You may have heard of it. It’s that place your mates go once or twice a year to get completely off their tits and dance around Berghain for 48 hours straight. Then they come home and spend a week on a comedown so bad it makes heroin withdrawal look like a tension headache. But hardcore clubbing aside, the city has a lot more to offer to a gay guy looking for excitement, art, culture and of course, men! Berlin-based travel company, GoEuro recently published a blog post giving a tiny overview of Berlin’s gay scene which you can check out for more info.

The city has a vibrant gay district called Schoeneberg, which used to be totally lesbian but has slowly become a lot more penis-centric since it’s establishment in the 1920s. You can take a queer tour around the gaybourhood, where they’re sure to point out every nook, bar, gay bookshop and cranny you could want along the way.
Berlin plays host to some amazing clubs and bars, which cater for all tastes, including Woof (for fur fans) as well as Südblock and Silver Future. Plus they even have a transgender community centre, complete with cafe, where you can relax and learn more about trans and queer issues. It’s considered a hub of the community and members are affectionately called TrIQies!

If you’re tempted by the sound of all this, Berlin is just a short flight from London and this ”poor but sexy” German capital is not only affordable but a unique and culturally diverse city.
