I love a pub! Recently I’ve been doing the rounds. What a fab time I had at the Kings Arms up in the West End’s Poland Street the other week. And of course I popped into the Retro Bar on my way to see a new show at the ICA of Judy Blame, who has taken over two floors with a wonderful journey through his work in art, fashion and film called Never Again: Artistic Differences. It’s on until 4th September, so go and see it!
Anyway the Retro Bar tell me they’ve got all sorts going on down that secreted away back alley at 2 George Court off the Strand. Lucky Dip relaunches on Thursday 14th and every second Thursday with DJ Heidi Heelz at the helm, playing all your faves from 8 ‘til 11pm.
One of my other haunts The Glory makes show time an experience like no other. On Friday 15th WTF is Ladylike?! is a ‘Vaudeville style review of all things fierce, femme and fabulous’. Host Linda La Labia introduces Shesus, Smashlyn Monroe, Benjamin Butch, The Phoenix and Sue Gives A Fuck! LOL. Star turns from 8pm ‘til 9.30 with Femsesh carrying on the party ‘til late with DJ’s Annie Pics and Terry Vietheer.
New night Daddy Issues looks fun! Look who’s DJing…Dom Top, Borja Peña and guest DJ Jeff Kirkwood from Toronto! It’s at this little basement club up in Dalston called Tipsy (20 Stoke Newington High Street), hosted by Ollywood and Borja, who are expecting a night charged with sexual tension!

Meat EAST is back at Dalston Superstore on Saturday 16th, awe they’re a lovely lot, full of energy and tonight they’ve got a full house with the NYC Downlow boys DJ’s Gideon and Nacho turning it out plus DJ’s 2GURLZ1CUB and the Meat Boys themselves upstairs entertaining us from 10pm till 4am!
I’m a great fan of Myra Dubois and she’s doing a show at London Wunderground on Tuesday 19th, called Self AdMyra. The Dubois one will be entertaining fans with her usual ‘razor sharp observations’ at 9.30pm on the dot.
Finally, get this in your diaries. Miss Sink The Pink 2016 on Saturday 23rd July at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, omg! Not to be missed… who will steal the crown from last year’s winner Miss Shay Shay? Who will the celeb judges be? Hosted by Glyn Famous, showtime all night long, DJ action from Joan Oh and Amy Zing, 8pm – 2am!
