With half of summer lost to lockdown, punters and venues have had a tough time of it. It’s not like we even get much of a summer in the first place, so when lockdown kicked in just at the end of a long winter, just at the start of spring, it was tough.
Jump forward three months, on 4th July Soho went full-on Al Fresco and we really got to enjoy the second half of summer. For once, when the sun was out (or it just wasn’t raining!), Soho got to look a bit like a Mediterranean city!
Tables and chairs now fill the streets, and restaurants and bars set about creating their terraces much to the delight of those who wanted to not just enjoy the sun but also didn’t fancy the idea of sitting inside during a pandemic! The venues have really created a great atmosphere.
This is all due to end on the 30th September. Next month the roads of Soho will be open to traffic again, and the cars will replace the happy smiley people.
So, if you want to make the most of the end of summer be reminded that the weather is set to be warm and sunny for the next couple of days. Get out there, enjoy Soho and all those LGBTQ spaces that have opened up terraces. Winter is on its way!
