Despite having only opened in mid-July of 2018, The Chateau in Camberwell quickly established itself as a go-to for South London revellers. Hosting everything from queer pub quizzes to all-out homo-fuelled raves, it made a darling addition to the queer scene. Unfortunately, as is the nature of the pop-up bar, it’s set to close its doors very soon. It was announced in a statement on the 9th of March that it’s set to close at the end of April 2020.
The statement shared:
“Yes babies, we’ve held on as long as is humanly possible, but the time has come to move on to queer pastures new.”
“The Chateau is an entity without walls and WE WILL CONTINUE outside of the basement. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements.”
Fans of the venue were quick to rush in to share their messages of support and love, with one user writing: “So sad but I am sure you will find an amazing alternative venue! Long live to the Chateau! You are amazing, lots of love to all of you!”

The venue will keep it’s doors open throughout March and April, with a closing party schedule set to be announced.
Coming up this March at The Chateau, events include “Qeltic: St Paddy’s Day Special”, some “Hokey Cokey Karaoke” and… wait for it… “Corona Virus Wiv Miley Cyrus”. Charming. Keep up with the last few parties at The Chateau in Camberwell on their Facebook Page, which is updated regularly.
