Drag Race UK Finale! It’s the last week of draggery on the BBC. Perhaps the most highly-anticipated series in gay British television history, and it wasn’t even on telly. Thursday is now officially Drag Race UK day. Taking over televisions in living rooms, laptop screens and projectors in gay bars across the country and beyond. The Drag Race UK Episode 8 had the drag darlings try their hand at branding, putting their own spin on bottled water. Take THAT roller skating Evian babies!
The reality TV show pitching queen against queen premiered on BBC 3 via iPlayer at this year and was streamed faster than a new Netflix doc about a serial killer. Though fans of the show weren’t sure if it was going to live up to its US origins, it seemed to have gone down very well with viewers. Others who were wary of RuPaul’s handling of British drag culture were pleasantly surprised.
It was finally time to crown a winner this week. Our three finalists Baga Chipz, Divina De Campo and The Vivienne battled it out to be crowned the UK’s first-ever drag superstar. They each had to conquer choreo, write a verse and sing it in the finale extravaganza.
