Be they actresses, singers or reality stars, there’s something about being a celebrity that means you have a God-given talent for FASHION. Sure, a stylist has been telling you what to wear for the past decade and there are people out there who have studied for years that would kill for the opportunity, but HEY! Who doesn’t want a pair of Lindsey Lohan leggings?
Looking back, the naughties were a strange time when celebrities would smack their names on anything, shoot a promo, and then sit back as the checks arrive in the mail. The obsession with fame was just rearing its ugly head, and teenage girls and gays the world over would queue for hours just to get themselves a slice of that life of glitz and glamour. Plastic jewels and silver embellishments were everywhere and walking around with Paris Hilton’s face on your chest was a completely normal thing to do.
Having now developed an appreciation for this age of un-ironic appreciation for everything Hillary Duff does, here are the bombastic celebrity collections that we wished were filling our wardrobes:
The Katherine Heigl Collection by Katherine Heil

When Peaches Uniforms, a leading manufacturer of uniforms and medical scrubs for women, decided to launch a line inspired by a celebrity, Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl was an obvious choice. Launching on the 22nd of October 2007, hers was the first ever celebrity-endorsed line of uniforms and scrubs. When nurses were cleaning up vomit and taking stool samples, at least they could enjoy the life of luxury that the Katherine Heigl name brought into their lives. The collection was said to ‘reflect current runway and lifestyle trends’, featuring ‘flattering silhouettes, hip colors and cool prints, with edgy, metropolitan sensibilities’. Why she agreed to this we can’t say, but what’s clear is that most of these scrubs are probably getting more work than Heigl these days. BURN.
6126 by Lindsay Lohan
Anything Lindsey Lohan has ever done is genius. Opening a bar in Mykonos? Genius. Staring in a film opposite the world’s biggest porn star? Genius. Being her own British twin for a whole movie? Genius. Starting a line of comfortable and fashionable leggins? GENIUS! 6126 was her collaboration with Kristi Kaylor, with the mysterious numeric name coming from Marilyn Monroe’s date of birth, of course! Everyone knows that Leggings + LiLo = Marilyn Monroe. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any better, they were given names like Fame, Lust, and Star to give you that full Lohan experience. In fairness to her, all the sales from the Fame leggings were donated to benefit the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, because nothing says Fame like 230,000 dead Haitians.
Dollhouse by Paris Hilton
On a sunny mid-Augst day in 2008, Paris Hilton gave the world the divine light that was Dollhouse by Paris Hilton. Having shot to tabolid glory a few years prior, this as HER time to get her own brand of sophisticaiton out there. The skinny jeans, vests and strack suits left us all thinking “that’s hot”. Drawin inspiration from Andy Warhol, this fashion line was just pure unbridaled art.
Stuff by Hilary Duff
OH, it rhymes! Hollywood starlet Hillary Duff decided to try her hand at some fashion stuff after the smash hit success of her film The Lizzie McGuire Movie where she played Lizzie McGuire, following on from TV program Lizzie McGuire. This line hit Kmart and Target stores across the US, Australia and even in Canada. Its woverwhelming sucess had them branching out into furniture, fragrenes and jewelry. The line made $5 million in its first year, take THAT Kylie Jenner.
Dear by Amanda Bynes
“Anything goes… together!” Following in the footsteps of Sarah Jessica Parker (yes, really) Steve & Barry’s aproached rising star Amanda Bynes to be a part of their new clothing line. Again, the year was 2007, which this article proves was a momentus year for the fashion industry. Dear by Amanda Bynes was her next venture after her hit film She’s the Man, and she was riding that fame train all the way to the line’s launch at Sushi restaurant in downtown Manhattan.”I love the fact that their shoes are under $20.” You sell that merch, henny.
Abbey Dawn by Avril Lagvine
He was a clothing line, she was a girl, can we make it any more obvious? The name comes from her childhood nickname which is sweet, but you know that these clothes were to be worn exclussively by teens who’d curse at their parents in front of all of their friends. She was obsessed with studs and skulls, so we were too. Just when you thought the punk biker-chic look was enough to get you lining up to buy her stuff, the draw-strings of her hoodies were also EARPHONES. Oh my god! Or as they said back in those days “0mi g0d, rAwR xD”.
