The drag scene is making waves again on the other side of the pond – this time, Las Vegas is in luck. The Drag Supper Club is currently taking place in the city, running up to early next year. So, if you find yourself in the neighbourhood, get ready for a fabulous night full of tea and no shade with some of Drag Race’s biggest stars.

Drag and Brunch: A Match Made in Heaven

More and more people are being introduced to the amazing and glamorous world of drag, in big part thanks to the appeal of RuPaul’s Drag Race, produced by VH1 – so it is not a surprise that similar events are becoming increasingly popular. Nor is it bizarre to choose Las Vegas as the city to make it big by combining the provision of services and entertainment. Some of the world’s biggest stars have indulged in Sin City residencies, like Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Celine Dion – who according to online casino Betway’s List of Biggest Las Vegas Acts tops every other performer, having amassed a total of almost 230 million among the 418 shows she gave during her seven-year stint on the strip, averaging well over 500,000 per gig. Why should the winners and stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race be any different? After all, the show has received 9 Emmy Awards, including the Outstanding Reality Show Host award for RuPaul, and has been nominated another 20 times, proving its mainstream appeal.

The event is organised by Voss Events, and is promoted as a Drag Brunch featuring the who’s who of the American drag scene. The venue is Señor Frog’s in the Las Vegas Boulevard and it will run every Friday at 2.30 pm and on weekends from 11.30am to 4.00pm. It will showcase a rotating cast, with India Ferrah and Shannel assuming the role of the hosts and performances from Coco Montrese, Elektra Del Rio and Yara Sofia, among others. Las Vegas has a long tradition in drag shows, and some of the girls on the show, like Elektra Del Rio, are regulars on What A Drag, the longest running drag show in Vegas. Coco in particular has risen to prominence after her appearance on All Stars 2 – even though her comeback was too brief for our liking. Coco is not only a stunning and experienced queen, but also a Las Vegas native, which is sure to add some extra spice to the show. Alongside her we will see her drag daughter, Kahanna Montrese, who also hails from Vegas – could this be the start of the reign of the Montrese family in Sin City?

No Supper, but Plenty of Drag: RPDR Stars Touring London

London may not have a Drag Supper Club – just yet – but it is home to some amazing drag events of its own and is no stranger to Voss Events. The production company, in fact, brought us one of the best drag events last year – the Werq the World official RPDR tour. Featuring the best of the best in Drag Race herstory, including the 2018’s top four, Asia O’ Hara, Kameron Michaels, Eureka and, of course, winner Aquaria, the Werq the World tour was truly 10s across the board. Touring the UK with past winners Sharon Needles, Violet Chachki and Bob the Drag Queen, as well as fan favourites Peppermint, Kim Chi and Latrice Royale, the show was hosted by none other than Ru’s favourite gal, Michelle Visage herself. British audiences flocked to pay their respects to their reigning queen and her sisters, which meant that Voss Events had to add a second day in London for those who did not get a chance to grab a ticket fast enough.

And that’s not all, as London crowds have managed to claim their fair share of RPDR glamour. In October, Sharon and Alaska will be reunited (on stage), along with Latrice, Willam, Jinkx Monsoon and Ivy Winters to shower Kentish Town in drag sass with a Halloween twist. Fan favourite and Miss Congeniality Monet X Change will then take over on November 1 – hopefully bringing a little of her signature kitchen sponge extravaganza. Then the library will open with Ross Matthews on referee duty as six queens take turns reading each other. With Ginger Minj, Bob the Drag Queen, Thorgy Thor and the infamous Phi Phi O’ Hara in the lineup, this evening promises to be full of tea and shade. But perhaps the biggest news this fall is the reunion tour of Season 6 top four, Adore, Bianca, Courtney (now a London resident, after her warm welcome as the Celebrity Big Brother Winner!), and Darienne Lake, in the ABCD Tour that will come to Kentish Town on November 28. And there are plenty more solo and joint acts to go.

Drag Race Supper or not, London has a lot to offer to Drag Race fans. But if you hope to find yourself in the City of Lights soon, don’t miss out on a night full of sass, crass, and a whole lot of talent – coupled with brunch! Could we ask for more?
