We’re switching things up a bit this week, with a QX office playlist! A scintillating selection of the QX staff’s fave tunes! Now, don’t take this as gospel. We’re not “sonorous tastemakers” or “cultural zeitgeist commentators” or anything. We mostly drink vodka and suck cock. So take it all with a pinch of salt. Although to our credit, we know a solid gold banger when we hear one! So open up Spotify and pack a lunch.
MNEK – Believe (CHER Refix)
Michael T Smith, QX Men Editor
I’ve only just stumbled across this and can’t stop playing it! I’ll try and regain some of my credibility and hastily add that I HATED the original version, but MNEK has managed to give this awful pop track a beautiful, sweet, soulful twist which I’m sure even old Cher would admit is better than her original version.
Victoria Beckham – Let Your Head Go
Chris Colman, Director
What’s not to like about this classic disco track? It’s great to dance to, and, you can laugh at how Victoria Beckham used to have a recording career, all at the same time! Did you know, she’s the biggest selling recording artist of all time?
Nadia Oh – No Bueno
Dylan Jones, Editor
This track from beret connoisseur and international slut Nadia Oh, is totally ridiculous, e.g. amazing. It flits between reggaeton, techno and terrible europop. Perfect to listen to whilst getting rimmed by a Jamaican DJ named Xavier.
Alex Klingande – Jubel
Stacey Cowen, Accounts
It’s so euphoric and I love sax! That’s SAX, not sex. Although I love that too.
Metronomy ft. Robyn – Hang Me Out To Dry
Joe Holyoake, Editorial Assistant
Two of my favourite artists come together for a track on Metronomy’s latest release. It’s got the lovably naff synths and deadpan delivery of Joe Mount, plus the icy voice of Robyn. The best duet since Robyn and Royskopp. Or Robyn and Snoop Dogg. Or…well, you get the picture.
Lily Allen – Kabul Shit
Janne Öijer, Senior Designer
Can’t wait to see what kind of album she will make out of the shit-fest that is 2016, but fingers crossed for something like this. On the flip side, check out the Swedish classic that is Pay TV’s ‘Trendy Discotheque’ for some proper eurotrash!
Nytrix – When Will I See You Again? (feat Neon Hitch)
Steve Gregory, New Business Sales Executive
I’ve had this on repeat all weekend. Found in my favorite place – Discover Weekly Spotify List for the best new music! GO!
Ronika – Principle
Suren Gunpath, Designer
Looking like a cross between Madonna, Debbie Harry and Lulu, Ronika’s got a late eighties/early nineties Madonna/Paula Abdul/Janet Jackson vibe. This song’s got a great a monochrome video too, with an eighties Paula Abdul feel!
