Blue Brighton Pride 2014

We’ve all got something to say, causes to support and ways of helping others. We all do what we can in our communities, we shout about it online, start up groups and discuss things in real life…

One of my favourite groups is SOS, which started up last month in response to the current political climate. There’s all sorts of creative groups and pages out there though, from good old Drag Names – yeah it’s still going (and even Jacqui Potato has her own – to Bowie Love, PUNK and of course all your favourite clubs and bars…and don’t forget you can always start one yourself!

This weekend it’s all about Brighton Pride from 5th to 7th August. Loads going on if you make the trip, like the BBW and BRÜT tent on Saturday 6th and afterparties galore, like Official Pride Party with Handsome and Queer Nation at Patterns, also on Saturday 6th. Check brighton-pride.org for more details.

Back in London Town, things are ticking over with our clubs and bars doing what they do best. Dalston Superstore takes us on a musical tour with LaGaSta with Bobby Boomerang “Cut Copy’ & Knightlife ‘Cutters Records’ on Friday 5th August. Join A Man To Pet and Foxy Hunt who are hosting, plus DJs Fannar, Nic Fischer, Wes Baggeley and Vangelis, 9pm-3.30am on Friday 5th August!

Don’t forget regular nights such as Savage on Fridays and Saturdays every week, 11pm ‘til 5am. Then The Glory who’ve always got something on…and don’t forget this Sunday 7th August it’s the Gay Bingo Boat Party after party if you miss the boat!

For something a bit different, try Lobotomy Room at Fontaine’s Bamboo Lounge, 176 Stoke Newington Road, N16 on Friday 5th August. Hosted by DJ Graham Russell, expect a playlist of camp rock ‘n’ roll faves that wouldn’t be out of place on John Waters’ juke box! 10pm ‘til 2am and free to get in!

Here’s some notes for your diaries… first up, regular Thursday night Synthia at the Eagle over in Vauxhall. The next one is on 11th August. Host and DJ on fire Wes Baggeley, who celebrates his birthday with special guest Richard Sen (Emotional Especial/Padded Cell), will be playing everything electric, electronic and classic with a futuristic vibe from 8pm – 3am.

Then hot off the press it’s the finale last one ever Dirty Diana (The Resurrection & Closing Party) at VFD (Vogue Fabrics) on Friday 12th August…all star line up including guest the beautiful DJ Samantha Togni. Starts at 9pm. Get in early for all the hot action!
