Debbie Does Vauxhall

This week has been an exercise in letting go. Hanging on to past disappointments and changes (and we all have them) is something that not only gives you that ‘chewing a wasp’ look but stops you from going forward and enjoying all the brilliant things going on around you…

This month Jonny Woo embarks on a new series of East London Lectures (ELL) at Shoreditch Town Hall from Wednesday 20th until Saturday 30th April. In true theatrical fashion, Woo will be relaying a coming-of-age story of his own experiences and those of others in East London and how they’ve shaped the scene in the present day.

I was so pleased to attend the Big Gay Song Book at Shoreditch House the other night with Jonny and Rudi Douglas singing their hearts out. I hear they’re taking up a residency there! But at their spiritual home The Glory it’s time for A Night At The Musicals. Jonny and Le Gateau Chocolat are returning for one night for further renditions of faves and a few obscuro numbers on Saturday 8th April at 8pm.

Over Vauxhall way on Friday 8th? Then get down to Debbie Does Vauxhall. Yes this ‘female fronted rock pop indie electro dance party’ is paying another visit to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern for a cult night. DJ’s Sina Sparrow and Bitchcakes are joined by Crystal Beth and Baby Lame. 10 ‘til 3am everyone!

In central London at the Retro Bar, that friendly drop-in off Charing Cross Road, discover Glam Rock Boot Camp! On Saturday 9th April from 7-11pm, yes old fashioned pub times, Heidi Heelz plays her eclectic glam hits and demonstrates the odd dance routine!
