Let’s put on a show! Whether you’re walking down the street or on a stage life can be a bit of a cabaret I sometimes find.
So without further ado, I’d better tell about the show I’m doing on Mondays 9th,16th and 23rd of November at The Glory (281 Kingsland Road, E2 8AS). An Audience With Princess Julia is a theatrical memoir tracing London’s counterculture scenes with a few words of wisdom thrown in for good measure. Come and see me ramble on with interpretive performance from Jacqui Potato, film and music from Jeffrey Hinton, special guests including milliner Stephen Jones and it’s all artistically directed by Jonny Woo.
Also hitting the stage this month NYC legend Penny Arcade is having a run with her show Longing Lasts Longer at the Soho Theatre (21 Dean Street, W1D 3NE) on until the 21st November. Now Penny knows how to spin a yarn with amazing style so do not miss this one! Watch & learn, watch & learn.
While we’re still on the subject catch the one and only Baby Lame’s Shit Show also at The Glory on Friday 6th November at 7.30pm with a cast list of fantastic turns from Baby Lame herself, plus Fancy Chance, Lydia L’Scabies, Mr Teds, Lady Noelia, Candy Gigi Markham and more.
In clubland, the heat is rising with Meat EAST at Dalston Superstore (117 Kingsland High Street, E8 2PB) this weekend on Saturday 7th. DJing it’s The Meat Boys take over upstairs with our Dom Top and downstairs with Severino and the delightful Nic Fischer, on 9pm ‘til 4am.
Heading up West? May I suggest a visit to the wonderful Retro Bar (2 George Court, WC2N 6HH) where it’s Wuzza Wuzza-Bowie Night on Saturday 7th with Heidi Heelz and Gareth Joyner, ‘a night of all things Bowie’. Join in singalongs, films and of course Bowie songs. 8-11pm everyone!
Oooh btw I’m DJing at East Bloc (217 City Road, EC1V 1JN) on Saturday 7th at Blocheads. Great line up! Well I would say that wouldn’t I?! Anyway I’ll be on the DJ decks with Jeffrey Hinton in one of the back rooms whilst on the main floor Wes DB and Lucious Flajore keep ahead of the beats with pumping DJ sets! 10:30 ‘til 6am.
Now for a treat… who fancies the idea of Naked Boys Reading: Milk (Brunch Special) at Dalston Superstore on Sunday 8th? Yes, from 12 midday to 4pm, some scantily clad men will be reading out loud while you crunch your way through brunch and sip on your nutritional glass of milk. If you want something stronger I’m sure DSS can oblige! Hostess Dr Sharon Husbands and tunes from the Duchess of Pork, plus readings and performance from Sean, Damien plus special guests!
