Last month I had a chat with John Lydon from notorious punk era band The Sex Pistols and PiL who’ve just announced their 10th studio album What The World Needs Now out in September. He raised the subject of rebellion. If anyone knows about the subject, John Lydon does. But what about us mere mortals? What are we doing about it as we go about our lives? Injecting a sense of rebellion into what we say, wear and do is something we do in style in London clubland.

Looking for the superstars of tomorrow, Royal Thrush at The Glory (281 Kingsland Road, E2 8AS) presents Oozing Gloop, Rodent Decay, Ellis D and Kevin Joseph Bailor on Friday 14th at 8pm. This lot give me hope with their off the wall performance antics, proving the spirit of rebellion is well and truly with us!

Die hard fans of that old antagonist Morrissey will be happy to learn that up at VFD (Vogue Fabrics, 66 Stoke Newington Road, N16 7XB) on Thursday 14th August they’re having a night of it with a Morrissey & The Smiths themed night, 10-3am. Expect a back catalogue of inspired music and don’t forget your gladioli!

Gloria’s at XOYO (32-37 Cowper Street, EC2A 4AP) is another mental night where they mix it up with cat-walking trannies, disco queens and music lovers for an all-out night! This month at Gloria’s, resident DJ’s Jonjo Jury and Joshua James are joined by fave band The 2 Bears, with Krystal Klear performing and Room Service hosting in Room 2! 9-2am and free to get in if you dress to impress.

Fancy a bit of alternative theatre? La John Joseph is “Practically Royalty”, presenting a new show from the ‘Boy In A Dress’ at London Wonderground (Southbank Centre, Jubilee Gardens, Belvedere Road, SE1 8XX) on Saturday 15th August. La John Joseph questions today’s society with a majestic take! Get yourselves down there for 7pm to witness La John’s witty observations.

How time fly’s! Indie Gay disco Rebel Rebel started 10 years ago at The Phoenix, Cavendish Square and on Saturday 15th they take a time travel and celebrate with a party Do You Remember The First Time? The Last Ever Rebel Rebel at it’s original home The Phoenix (37 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0PP) itself. Starring the Rebel 7 DJ’s Anthony Crank, Phil Bakstad and Alexis Caught. On from 9pm til’ 3am.

So much going on! I’ll be DJing on Saturday 15th with the Disco Smack crew Josh Quniton & Andy Bradin at The Glory in The Hole till 2am. Then a jaunt over to East Bloc (City Road, EC1V 1JN) for Night Sheen where I’ll be DJing with Martyn Fitzgerald in the bar, headlining K’Alexi from Chicago with Hannah Holland and Josh Caffe. On til’ 6am.

Note for your diary…A Tit Show from Moa Johansson’s Mojo Company looks at the significance of breasts in a camp performance kind of way from Monday 17th to Wednesday 19th August as part of The Camden Fringe fest at the Etcetera Theatre (265 Camden High Street, NW1 7BU). They say ‘Wigs, glitter and balloons, the piece contains songs, dance and lot’s of tits’.
