When we heard that Sophie Ellis Bextor was appearing at G-A-Y we weren’t quite sure what she was going to do: perform a tango, murder us on the dancefloor of get us into the groove…jet. But we’ve been informed she’s actually promo’ing new hit album ‘Wanderlust’ and is not ready to perform some of her new material. We’re told it’s absolutely amazing and our favourite alabaster pop queen is preparing for an almighty comeback. We can’t wait.

It’s a theme that Queer Nation and Barcode champion proudly on into 2014! DJ Mel (the original Lift DJ, no less) will be joined by Mista Pierre, Supadon and Niyi Maximus Crown. Check it out… QN is back, baby!
Also, in honour of LGBT History month, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and author Vernal Scott will be in attendance for the launch of ‘God’s Other Children – A London Memoir’ which details the authors loves, lives and music from of his Windrush generation parents from Jamaica through more recent times as a gay black dad.

08/02/14: XXL ‘CONSTRUCTION’
So, it’s that time again when Pulse turns into a construction yard for the night and the chippies, plumbers and brick-layers leave their projects for a night of music, dancing and some beers – or should that be bears? Whilst we can assure that no bricks will be getting laid, we’re quite sure that a few men will be. Don’t forget to put on your hard helmets as they build anticipation (see what we did there?) for new resident DJs Andy Almighty in the main room, and the Fluff Room’s new addition, Stuart Style. See page 26 for our interview with the guys!
Pulse, 1 Invicta Plaza, Southbank, SE1 9UF. 10pm-7am. £8 members, £15 guests.

10/02/14: POPCORN ‘CIRQUE’
Monday night clubbing brings out the uniques and the freaks and with Popcorn being taken over by the circus, you can expect the freakiest of them all to be out in force. So who else would they have overseeing things, other than a bloke in the biggest wig we’ve seen since Cousin It? No, not Sideshow Bob… and no, not even Krusty the Clown, it’s Miss Jodie Harsh, who will be joined on the decks by talented DJs Adam Turner and Paulo Moreno. So get down there, throw some colourful shapes and maybe even juggle a few balls. It’s what Monday nights are for.

Think ‘The Bronze’ from Buffy but with more homosexuals than just Willow and Tara), expect the finest female-related pop classics combined with the latest womanly wonky pop from resident DJs Sina Sparrow and Bitchcakes with guest Michael Turnbull. Plus, the amazing Debbette Dancers! This Febbie, think Debbie.
